There are two principals entrance channels at Cartagena’s bay one is located at Bocachica entrance channel. b. a chart No.2434 or Colombian chart No.261 with maximum sailing draft 13.00 mts s.w if vessel entering/sailed with more than 13,00 the maneuvers will be  subject to harbor master authorization.

Another is the Colonial channel with maximun draft 14, 00 mts s.w and maximum loa of 250 mts, if vessels entering though the Colonial Channel must be assisted by three tugboats and 2 pilots, the maneuvers are subject to previous authorization from harbor master office, and restricted to early morning hours from 06:00 till 11:00 hrs lt.

The port of Mamonal is located inside the bay of Cartagena, at the north coast of Colombia, LAT 10 20` 30” N, LONG 75 30` 15” W.

Operations at this port are performed alongside pier and can be done either with ship or shore cranes. Loading rates for loading coal is 416 mt/hr when using ship’s cranes; and 334mt/hr when using shore cranes. For coke the loading rate is 166 mt/hr working with shore cranes.

PORT RESTRICTIONS
