Coal Cargoes & Ports
PUERTO BOLIVAR
This port is in the area of La Guajira and it is used for loading steam coal. Puerto Bolivar is the port where CMC (Coal Marketing Company) the sales arm for the Cerrejon coal exports such coal. They are the only ones authorized to sell coal and load it in that facility, the port is a private port for private operations.
The operations at this port are alongside pier, this means that the vessel is next to the berth where operations take place. This loading operation is carried out by one shore conveyor belt system.
Normal port loading rate (average) for coal: 11.000 tons/hour for all type of vessels
